This volume continues the pattern of ending one story and starting another so it can end on a dramatic cliffhanger that messes with your emotions and of wow did it ever. The protagonist is still cluelessly sweet and creepy and ultra violent, the society is incredibly messed up, and the devil hunting organization and the hunters just get weirder. For all of the insane violence and comedy, there is a strong streak of tragedy in this series. Gives me a bad feeling about where things are going but the ride looks amazing! sighs* a pretty girl suddenly shows interest in you? You know it is very likely a trap, right? Right? This particular volume has some very rom-com like moments in it, and the readers feel a sense of warmth but it is executed in such a way that the readers also get the sense of uneasiness and a feeling of an impending disaster. The artwork is also great, as usual, especially during the fight scenes.

But...there is nothing wrong about killing zombies! You don't try to make Denji feel bad....and of course, he won't! XD It’s Chainsaw vs. Sword as the bloody battle for Denji’s heart heats up. Denji is going to have to pull out all the stops against this crafty opponent. And when the dust settles, how will Special Division 4 move on from their losses?Yuh, not much a fan of Lady Reze. But damn I love that Chainsaw Man vs. Katana Man. Augh. That's awesome! Flaunt Kishibe like a mf! Yea! I really liked the subtle psychological horror stuff with Makima and her uncomfortable relationship with Denji. She’s very off-putting in ways that are hard to explain. It doesn’t help that she seems to like grooming underage boys into doing her dirty work. Not sure if she would technically be classified as a villain, but she definitely fits the bill. I really do like how Denji isn't the typical heart of god dogooder you can find in other shonen manga, I even like he would get horny after some girls...XD So far the craziness in the series hasn't settled down at all, in fact, it just seems to go up in every volume.

Overall, this is an amazing volume and a perfect combination of high stakes action with simple, slice of life stories. Denji was a small-time devil hunter just trying to survive a harsh world. After being killed on a job, Denji is revived by his pet devil-dog Pochita and becomes something new and dangerous—Chainsaw Man! I swear this bonkers series is getting better and better! I had so much fun reading this volume and there were a few times where I laughed out loud :D

This volume starts with the two big fights that the previous volume was building up to. Aki fights Sawatari, who had orchestrated the murders of multiple Devil Hunters, but when she's defeated, she uses the snake devil to kill herself. Denji fights with the sword devil and after a long fight, he's able to capture him. After that, he goes to a non romantic date with Makima, where they watch a lot of movies and she helps him find out he has a heart. Soon after, he meets another girl, Reze. She seems interested in him and one night they go together to her school, after it closed for the day and Denji starts developing feeling for her as well. Notable mentions: BEAM IS SO CUTE!! He looks up to Denji so much, it’s impossible not to love that golden retriever attitude. Also, Angel Devil and Aki’s reluctant-ally dynamic is so great! The artwork in this volume is really gorgeous. Tatsuki Fujimoto's artwork seems to be slowly evolving with each volume and it's becoming even better. The amount of detail the artwork has when there's a fight is amazing and it makes everything much more exciting and brutal. I also really love the way he draws more simple things, like rain and faces. Everyone and everything is drawn absolutely beautifully. Denji's a poor young man who'll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil-dog Pochita. He's a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he's betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji's become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!
