KAREENA: You are the reigning queen of rice! “Make your own biryani” bar? I mean it’s genius. As your lawyer, I’m telling you that you have to trust me on this. You’ll get the loan. For me, one of the best things about Dating Dr. Dil was that as a romantic comedy, the humor was in the situation and the snark, and not in the characters. Both main characters are fully drawn and easy to identify with, even when I didn’t agree with them. Kareena Mann is a thirty-year old who provides legal counsel to women start-ups. She really knows her mind and her love for her late mother inflects a lot of her choices and passions. She was a strong character, but not rigidly so – she can stand up for what she wants, but she is not without moments of doubt. Dr. Prem Verma, the hero, is a cardiologist with a talk-show on a local South Asian Network. Several years before the novel begins, his fiancée had died of an undiagnosed illness. Since then, he had been working towards opening a clinic where the specific medical needs of the South Asian community, and other patients of color, would be attended to. He uses his talk-show in part to share health information with the Desi community in the NJ/NY area. She opened her door, and instead of hearing the sizzling sounds of ghee in a hot pan, there was only silence. The delicious aroma of spices was missing. Usually, the smell of birthday paranthas permeated the house. Maybe Dadi was waiting for her? Hazel is a 19-year-old book enthusiast who has a (sometimes overwhelming) craze for reading and writing. She’s a prolific writer and aspires to travel the world. While she has a passion and talent for books, she’s currently studying finance as she prepares to graduate college. Even though they have warring interests, the more time Prem spends with Kareena, the more he thinks she’s might actually be the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. In this Taming of the Shrew re-imagination, for Prem and Kareena to find their happily ever after, they must admit that hate has turned into fate.

Hi! I’m Kareena Mann. As cheesy as it sounds, I’m looking for my soulmate. In four months. And he must gain the approval of my meddling aunties.Hi, I’m Dr. Prem Verma, host of the Dr. Dil Show. Prem means love, Dil means heart, and I’m a cardiologist. Don’t let my name fool you. I only fix broken hearts in the literal sense. She hadn’t woken up particularly happy about her birthday, but damn it, she was really looking forward to those paranthas. And maybe even a moment that was about her. A moment that didn’t revolve around her sister or her sister’s wedding, or her sister’s YouTube channel. If you're interested in DATING DR. DIL events, virtual and/or in person, c Hello readers! I wanted to make sure I shared some important information about the book with all of you, and this is my best chance at getting the info in front of your faces. If you’re single at thirty, you have to lower your standards. If you’re single at thirty, your prospects for a happily ever after are diminished. If you’re single at thirty, you are perceived as difficult, and no one will want to marry you. Dating Dr. Dilis also a critique of the misogyny in Desi culture related to dating, marriage, and sexuality. There are moving scenes when Prem’s mother and Kareena’s father open up to their children about their own marriages. One character that never gets to “explain” themselves is Bindu, Kareena’s sister. She’s the bridezilla in the novel, the spoiled younger sister who is about to get married. I kind of saw her as another victim of the pressures highlighted in the novel, but I was never sure.

Beta, the oldest daughter should be at least engaged before the youngest gets married. You should date more. Or we can find you matches. Rishtas. Maybe someone will want to marry a woman so independent at your age.”

Nisha Sharma’s new romantic comedy features enemies to lovers, a cast of best friends, and a gaggle of aunties determined to make a match. As Kareena found out that her father was planning to sell her family’s home, aka the house her late mother had built from scratch, Kareena faced the impossible (but not entirely impossible) task of finding her, falling in love, and committing to buy. . her father’s house. When that happened, we became Prem Verma a.k.a. dr inserted. Hello! I’m Kareena man. As corny as it sounds, I’m looking for my soul mate. In four months. And he needs to earn the approval of my nosy aunts. After getting fired, Maya flies to San Francisco to surprise her boyfriend on her birthday. Instead, she finds out that his phone is with a lift driver and drumrolls... he's cheating on her. But this strange lift driver tells her to get on the bus to discover Carmel-by-the-sea and have a memorable birthday, so she does that. Not just that, he offers her an itinerary for one of the best birthdays of her life. But maybe, that's not all they're going to share.
